1. Remote Control & Basic Operation
How do I turn the AC on or off?
Press the ON/OFF button. When you turn it on or off, Timer, Sleep, and similar settings are cancelled.
How do I change the temperature?
Use the Up/Down buttons. In Cool/Heat mode, the range is 16°C to 31°C. Temperature cannot be set in Auto, Dry, and Fan modes.
Why can't I change the temperature in Auto or Dry mode?
This is normal and by design. In Auto mode, the AC sets the temperature to 25°C automatically. In Dry and Fan modes, temperature control is switched off because the AC manages humidity or airflow instead of a fixed target.
How do I change fan speed?
Press the FAN button to cycle through Low, Middle, High, and Auto. Auto fan speed is generally used in Cool mode.
How do I use the Swing function?
Press the Swing Up/Down button to turn louver movement on or off. When indoor swing is ON, an icon appears on the remote.
How do I lock the remote settings?
Long-press the LOCK button to lock all current settings. Press it again to cancel the lock, and the lock icon on the screen will disappear.
How do I turn off the indoor display?
Press the DISPLAY button to clear the digit display. Press it again to activate it. This may not work on units without an LED display window.
What if the remote is lost or damaged?
Use the Emergency Operation Key on the indoor unit, usually near the display panel. The AC will run in Auto Mode. Press it with an insulating object, not metal.
Why is my remote not responding?
Check if LOCK is active, batteries are weak, or there is an obstruction or interference between the remote and the indoor unit's signal receiver. Remove batteries for 30 seconds and reinsert, or replace them.
2. Modes & Functions
What is Auto mode?
The AC automatically selects cooling or fan operation based on the difference between room and set temperature. Default temperature is 25°C, and it cannot be changed.
What is Cool mode?
The compressor runs and cools the room to your set temperature, adjustable between 16°C and 31°C. Ideal comfort setting is 21°C to 25°C.
What is Dry mode?
Dry mode reduces room humidity without strong cooling. The indoor fan runs at low speed, and temperature and fan speed cannot be changed. The display shows the set temperature.
What is Fan mode?
Only the indoor fan runs; the compressor stays off, so there is no cooling. Temperature cannot be set in this mode.
What is Heat mode, and does it work on every Godrej AC?
Heat mode is only available on Heat-Cool series models. It is not supported on cooling-only models like the GSC 12ITC3-WUA, so the option will not function there.
What does TURBO do?
TURBO helps the AC reach the set temperature quickly with strong cold air and super high fan speed. It cancels automatically after 1 hour.
What does SLEEP do?
SLEEP adjusts cooling automatically for better comfort while you sleep. It is available only in Cool mode and cancels automatically after 8 hours unless you cancel it earlier. The Sleep icon appears on the remote when active.
What does ECO do?
ECO activates energy-saving operation. In Cool mode it raises the set temperature by 2°C and sets Auto fan speed (which can still be changed). Press ECO again to cancel it.
How does TIMER work?
TIMER sets auto ON/OFF in 30-minute increments. If the AC is ON, it turns OFF after the set time; if the AC is OFF, it turns ON after the set time.
What is the BLOW function?
BLOW keeps the indoor fan running at super high speed for 5 minutes after the AC is switched off. It helps dry the indoor coil and prevents mold, bacteria, and bad odor. It works best when used right after turning the AC off.
What is the SILENT function?
SILENT helps the AC operate more quietly. Press the SILENT button to enable or disable it.
3. Display, Error Codes & Protections
What does the power indicator mean?
The power indicator illuminates when the AC is in standby mode.
What does the digital display show?
It shows the current temperature setting while the AC is running.
How can I see the room temperature?
Press the TEMP key. Room temperature appears on the indoor display for 5 seconds, then the set temperature returns.
What does error code E1 mean?
E1 means the room sensor is short or open. The display alternates between E1 and set temperature; contact service.
What does error code E2 mean?
E2 means the evaporator coil sensor is short or open. The display alternates between E2 and set temperature; contact service.
What does error code E3 mean?
E3 means the condenser coil sensor is short or open. The display alternates between E3 and set temperature; contact service.
What does error code E4 mean?
E4 points to a fault in the indoor ambient temperature sensor. The AC cannot read the room temperature correctly, so cooling performance may drop until it is repaired.
What does error code H6 mean?
H6 means an indoor fan motor error. The compressor and fan turn off immediately to prevent damage; contact service.
What does dF mean on the display?
dF stands for Frost Protection. It means the unit has detected frost buildup and is running a defrost cycle. This is often normal, but frequent frosting can point to a gas leak or airflow issue.
What do F1 to F9 error codes mean?
F1 to F9 cover faults linked to the compressor, IPM module, sensors, and outdoor fan. For example, F1 means the compressor failed to start, and F3 means an IPM module fault. These are technical faults that need a trained technician.
What does E6 or E8 mean on the display?
E6 and E8 both point to a communication fault between the indoor and outdoor units, often caused by a loose wire or a faulty connecting cable.
I see an error code on my AC. Should I try to fix it myself?
No. Error codes point to sensor, fan, or compressor faults that need proper testing tools. Turn off the AC and call an authorized Godrej service technician instead of restarting it repeatedly.
What protection features are included?
Sensor fail protection, defrost protection in Cool/Heat mode, fan motor protection, and compressor delay protection.
Why did the AC stop due to voltage?
It may enter protection mode if voltage is very high (above 280V) or very low (below 140V). Check your power supply or use a stabilizer.
Why is the fan still running high after I set it to low?
There may be a 3-minute delay when fan speed changes from High to Low. This is normal.
Why does the display show "05" after I switch the AC off?
You may have selected the BLOW function. The AC is performing the BLOW operation for a few minutes after being turned off.
Why does a 0.5-hour timer setting show "1" on the display?
The dual-digit display cannot show 0.5. It shows 1 for both half-hour and one-hour timer settings.
4. Common Problems / Troubleshooting
The unit does not run. What should I check?
Check if power is shut down, the plug is loose, circuit protection has tripped, voltage is too high or low, or the TIMER is set incorrectly.
Cooling efficiency is not good. What should I check?
Check if the AC is in Dry mode, filters are dirty, vents are blocked, windows or doors are open, fan speed is set too low, or a heat source is nearby.
The wireless remote is not working. What should I do?
Check for interference, range, obstructions, battery charge, and damage. If the problem continues, switch off the AC, unplug it, and reinsert the plug.
Water is leaking inside the room. Why?
This may be due to high humidity, condensate water overflow, or a blocked indoor drain pipe. Stop operation and consult service if no drain water is visible.
Water is leaking from the outdoor unit. Is that normal?
Yes, this can be normal. In Cool mode, pipe condensation may drip; during Auto Defrost, melting ice drains out; in Heat mode, water drains from the heat exchanger.
There is noise from the indoor unit. Is it a problem?
Usually not. It may be the fan or compressor relay switching, a defrost cycle starting or stopping, or refrigerant flowing in reverse.
When should I turn off the AC immediately?
Turn it off and disconnect power right away if the power cord overheats or is damaged, you hear an abnormal sound, the circuit breaker trips often, you smell burning, or the indoor unit leaks.
5. Cleaning & Maintenance
How often should I clean the dust filter?
Clean it every 2 weeks. Wash with water or use a vacuum cleaner, then dry it in the shade.
Can I dry the filter with fire or a hair dryer?
No. Never use fire or a hair dryer to dry the filter; it may cause deformation or a fire hazard.
How do I clean the front panel?
Open the front panel, slide and pull to disconnect one side, wipe with a soft cloth and neutral detergent, dry in the shade, then reattach.
Can I touch the aluminum fins?
No. Avoid touching the aluminum fins with bare hands when removing or mounting the filter, as they can be sharp.
How often should the anti-bacterial filter be cleaned?
Clean it every 3 months, as per the maintenance table.
What indoor unit maintenance is recommended?
Clean the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth, clean the drain pipe every 4 months, and clean the drain pan and heat exchanger once a year.
What outdoor unit maintenance is recommended?
Have a technician steam-clean the heat exchanger coils and panel vents. Clean the fan, drain pan, fan assembly, and electrical components once a year.
What is the drain pan for on the outdoor unit?
The drain pan collects and drains water produced when the AC runs in Heat mode. It only applies to Heat-Cool series models.
Why does my Godrej AC smell bad when it starts?
A bad smell is often caused by moisture and dust buildup on the indoor coil. Use the BLOW function after switching off the AC to help keep the coil dry and reduce odor.
What should I do before a long idle period, like off-season storage?
Run Fan only mode for a few hours to dry out the unit, turn off the breaker, clean the filters, and remove the remote batteries.
Can I wash the AC with water?
No. Never wash the AC with water or spray water directly on the indoor unit; it may cause electric shock or malfunction.
6. Installation & Safety
Who should install the AC?
Installation must be done by qualified professionals only, following national wiring and electric safety regulations.
What electrical safety is required?
Use a qualified power supply and circuit breaker. An all-pole disconnection switch with at least 3mm contact separation should be connected, and proper grounding is required.
Can I connect the AC to a multi-purpose socket?
No. Do not connect the AC to a multi-purpose or shared socket, as it may cause a fire hazard.
Is R-32 refrigerant safe?
R-32 is flammable. No fire source or smoking is allowed during service, a leak test must be done after installation, and the room must meet the minimum area listed on the nameplate.
How far apart can the indoor and outdoor units be installed?
The maximum height difference between the indoor and outdoor units is 5 metres to maintain good performance. Keep enough space around both units for airflow and maintenance, and avoid sharp bends in the piping.
How should the drain pipe be installed?
The drain pipe should not curve upward and should sit below the wall pipes. Wrap it tightly with the pipelines to prevent condensation on its surface.
Does the AC need extra refrigerant after installation?
Extra refrigerant is only needed if the piping is more than 5 metres long. The amount depends on the liquid pipe diameter, for example Ø6.35mm needs about 30g per 5m, and Ø9.52mm needs about 65g per 5m. This should only be done by a trained technician.
Why is checking for gas leaks important after installation?
A gas leak at the pipe joints can reduce cooling performance and damage the compressor over time. Technicians use a leak detector or soap solution to check every joint carefully before the installation is considered complete.
Can I relocate the AC myself?
No. Only a qualified person should relocate the AC; doing it yourself risks personal injury or damage to the unit.
Can children use the AC?
Children aged 8 and above can use it with supervision or instruction. Children must not play with the AC, and cleaning should not be done by children without supervision.
